Huw Thomas

Born in Cardiff in 1974, Huw started playing the cornet at the age of 11 in the Tongwynlais Band. He went on to play the trumpet and played in the National Youth Orchestra in Wales. He then went on to the Birmingham Conservatoire, and afterwards had a 2 year period in Portugal with the Orquesta De Norte.

After returning to the United Kingdom, he conducted Melton Town Band and then went as resident conductor to the Kibowrth Band working with John Berryman. Since then, he has been connected with Enderby Band, Pennine Brass, Towcester Band and Staffordshire Band.

In 2004, he was awarded the Dennis and Maud Wright Conducting Award and was also runner - up in the North West Brass Band Conductor of the Year.
